Cody Stone Unveiling

A Rare Piece of Buffalo Bill History Comes to LeClaire

Saturday, November 19 at 1pm

Get an up-close look at a geological marvel from the American Southwest! The Buffalo Bill Museum will unveil its 5,200-carat Cody Stone at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19.

Named after the famed frontiersman, Wild West icon, and LeClaire native Buffalo Bill Cody, this incredible formation is a unique blend of milky quartz ore embedded with gold, silver, and tungsten. These rare, breathtaking stones provide natural protection for the soft metals in their natural state.

This remarkable specimen was donated by Loren Breckenridge and Jackie Lee of Appleton, WI, and was extracted in 2010 from the very mine Cody established more than 100 years prior.
